Vanessa Green

Vanessa was a trustee of Positive East from 2009 – 2012, and now works in an advisory capacity. She designed and developed the wellbeing programme.

Vanessa has spent over 20 years working in financial services, including seven years with Standard Chartered Bank. As Group Head of Community Investment she developed the Bank’s HIV education programme, which educated 2.6 million people in 70 countries between 2008 – 2011. She also headed the expansion of the Bank’s avoidable blindness charity (Seeing is Believing) from US$10m to US$100m. Previously Vanessa held positions with Bank of America, Equinox Capital, and Arab National Bank.

Alastair Thomson

Alastair has been the Finance Director of Positive East for six years. He has been in the vanguard for sourcing income diversification for most of this time and has been actively working on promoting social enterprise income sources for a number of years.

Before joining Positive East, Alastair worked for 20 years in the commercial sector, with a variety of international roles with Xerox. He started his career in the accountancy profession with Touche Ross and Price Waterhouse.

Mark Santos

Mark is the Executive Director of Positive East. He has worked at the Charity for 16 years, starting as the Housing Advice worker and becoming director in 2000.

Previously Mark worked in a local authority housing advice centre, was a volunteer and relief worker at Shelter, a member of Community Health Council (until their demise), and a Governor of two primary schools. He is currently Chair of Newham LINk, trustee of Community Gardens, and Secretary of a local Community Project.
